PvP Mesmer Armor?
hi guys
just wondering, what sort of armor for mesmer should i use for pvp?
i may be creating two...since i cant decide which one i really want to play with yet (or is more my style):
Me/E
this will be a FC spiker...pretty much bunch of lightning spells and just cast it fast haha
Me/N
a hex/condition spreader...crippling anguish and other spells that like parasitic bond, mantra of persistence, images of remorse, etc
then the 2 builds ill run that either Me/E or Me/N can both do:
edenial build (energy surge, tap, burn, w/ mind wrack and shatter ench)
&
shutdown build w/ blackout, shame, diversion, shatter-drain ench...etc
for these builds, what armor types are best in pvp? all the same or diff for the builds?
much thx for help

I use Savant chest + legs and rest chanters (not sure if a piece of noble is still worthwhile). I use Savant because I always use a stance (Distortion, Mantras). And 10 armor while in stance seems much more logical than same while enchanted (which I barely ever am) or physical only armor bonus (I am more concerned about Ele damage than physical actually).

Same here most of the time, because in pvp, as a mesmer, you are a primary target and need to be a bit more resistant. Did you see the EW mesmer playing with a christmas shield ? I don't know if they're sticking actually on that defensive choice..
"+10 while in a stance" when I play with a long duration stance.
Since the nerf, "+15 when using a skill" is very build dependant... Not really needed if you are an interrupter or a fast caster...
ps : I remade most of my armor pieces because of the the nerf
edit : forgotten things...

I hear a lot of people use full Enchanter's, but I would think on a high priority target like a mesmer you would want extra protection over a little extra energy, at least for chest and legs.
I usually wear physical defense armor on my casters, but I'm wondering if maybe this is less important for mesmer since they have Distortion and lots of potential melee hate. Savant's chest and legs with Enchanter's arms and feet sounds like a good combo, as HG suggested. Anyone else have an opinion here?

When you play FC ele - +10 armor while enchanted on chest and legs is a very wise decision. When you play a Me with Distortion/MoX +10 armor while in stance is again called for for chest and legs. Ench armor doesn't rly give anything that a Me isn't quite adept at getting anyway (Me have about 30 nrg management skills, granted not all of them are truly viable but still least thing you need is about 5 nrg for the cost of 10 armor). + physical and + while casting are useless. + physical doesn't rly matter because what kills you isn't physical damage. If you die to a warrior, or ranger, or assassin you need to go back to basic survival stretegies school, not the battlefield. What kills you is other Mesmers, Necros, or Eles (yes, Eles, you can spam Dist against 3 Warriors any day, you cant keep 3 Eles from casting and Ele damage owns softies). To sum it up: 10 armor is a very wise choice least for chest and legs which take the majority of the damage.

So what would you say is best for most PvP-quality builds: Savant's or Charlatan's? I know I can buy both and switch depending on build, but if I'm going to invest in 15k or even FoW armor I want it to be my main suit.
I'm guessing the bonus in stance is better since I try not to rely on enchantments too much. So would you recommend splurging on the Savant's chest/legs and just buying a 1.5k Charlatan's swap?

Well, I almost always use stances, so I go with Savant. Charlatan's is only good for 2 builds: FC Spiker and IW. It rly depends on your playstyle, I don't know what you normally build for. You have to gear your armor towards your particular playstyle. Full nrg armor is a waste, I can tell you that much. No one rly depends on a few more points of nrg.
